Compatible printer ink cartridges are a cheaper alternative to the genuine ink cartridges manufactured by the same company that made the printer. Compatibles can cost up to 60% less then genuine inks and this is the case for a small number of HP ink cartridges including HP Photosmart D5400 ink cartridges. This level of savings are not always the case, when a printer manufacturer brings out a new printer and new cartridges to go in it compatible inks over less of a saving to begin with but as the printer and cartridges become more widely available the price of the compatible ink cartridge comes down in price where as the genuine inks stay at the same price therefore the compatible offer a greater saving over time. Compatible ink cartridges for a reputable inkjet retailer offer great print quality almost equal to that found from genuine OEM products and the print just as many pages. The small difference between the two types of cartridge prints can only really been seen if the same photo is printed with each cartridges and the two images are compared side by side. The only difference that can be seen is a slight variation in colour tone and that’s all. Choosing compatible ink cartridges really come down to what you really want from your prints, if you want the very best prints that last for years without fading and don’t mind paying top dollar then originals are probably best for you, but if like the rest of us you just want to print stuff without it costing a small fortune then compatibles are the way to go.
